You're ugly. You're fat. You're stupid. You're a fool. Now, would you like to help me with a project?

No? Gee, I wonder why? For some reason, a significant portion of gun owners take pernicious delight in slamming other gun owners. Calling someone a "Fudd" falls right into that category, and it's about as dumb a tactic as I can imagine.

Eating Your Own Diminishes Results!

Basic fact: We need all gun owners to join the fight to protect the Second Amendment. Why would we go out of our way to alienate huge numbers of our community by calling them names? Realize that we are all standing somewhere on the spectrum of enlightenment on 2A issues. Some are in the lead. Some have just arrived and are saying "How can I help?" Some are still unaware. That last group, which often is made of hunters and target shooters, just haven't seen the threat. Maybe they don't consider it a prime motivator for them. We need them to help, and denigrating them by comparing them to the cartoon character Elmer Fudd can only drive them away. It's a foolish act of self-aggrandizement.

We all need to do what works rather than what makes us feel good.

Homework Assignment for You!

Here's a homework project for your 20 in 2020 commitment. It will take only 16 minutes to watch this video describing what happened in Australia. It's a great tool for explaining how the effort to ban guns starts out with something that sounds reasonable, and it shows what happens when you compromise. Yes, it's a bit bland, but stay with it. It's worthwhile. Share it.
