What the WOOX?

January 21, 2021
Kevin "KJ" Jarnagin

I was introduced to WOOX during the 2019 NASGW show. That had to be one of the highlights from that show for me. To see how they are blending wood and metal into a beautiful rifle stock is fascinating. They are now introducing the new Furiosa Micarta rifle chassis, which continues their excellence in craftsmanship and functionality for modern sportsmen and women.

The Furiosa rifle chassis was introduced in 2020 and quickly gained a reputation for accuracy, reliability, and classic design. Now in 2021, WOOX is introducing the first rifle chassis of its kind - combining aircraft grade aluminum and micarta.

"At WOOX, we are willing to innovate at every turn, all for the sake of creating better products and guaranteeing the utmost in customer satisfaction. Striving for excellence means having an open mind to new technologies and materials, in order to expand our capabilities,” said Danillo Minelli, Managing Director at WOOX. “That’s the spirit behind the development of the toughest version of our Furiosa rifle chassis. We want to push the boundaries and be a source for true innovation in the industry."

Micarta is widely regarded as one of the toughest materials made. During the production process, sheets of material are impregnated with colored dyes and phenolic resin. These sheets are then stacked together to achieve the desired thickness and bonded into a single sheet under tremendous pressure and heat. This process then produces a material that is impervious to cracking or warping. It also produces unique ergonomics with improved grip and never feels cold to the touch. Weather resistant, the WOOX Furiosa Micarta chassis casts off moisture, as well as most oils and solvents. An additional benefit is the exceptional vibrational harmonic dampening properties of the chassis material, which further assists accuracy.

These new rifle chassis also maintain the timeless and sleek Italian design that all WOOX products have become renowned for.

The WOOX Furiosa Micarta rifle chassis are designed and made in both Italy and Hickory, North Carolina. Available for Remington 700, Howa 1500, Weatherby Vanguard, Sauer 100, and Tikka T3 actions, the new Furiosa Micarta chassis have a retail price of $1,199.00.

This is great news for the PRS crowd. WOOX offers an option to maintain style and function. Fully adjustable buttstock is a big deal when dialing in for consistency, and WOOX does a great job of delivering all this in a package that only weighs 4.8-pounds.
