I went to Argentina two weeks ago to shoot dove (and a few parakeets!). The shooting was only fair, but it was a great group of friends, so we still had a ball. Each shooter has a local guy as a "bird boy." Walter, my bird boy, kept telling me about all the pumas in the area. Sure. That part of the countryside looks like Kansas. Flat, and covered with corn. Yeah. Mountain lions. Uh huh.
Except that the second morning, during a lull in the shooting, we were standing around in a cluster in the middle of a narrow two-track road, just shooting the breeze. Mark Hanish (three-gun shooter, Surefire exec., and all-round good guy) looked up to see a big puma silently crossing the road only 20 feet away.
Never doubt the locals.
