The One Truck-Buying Mistake to Avoid

Driving through town, you’ve seen the guys who drive a jacked-up truck with giant mud tires, obnoxiously huge lifts and a drop hitch that out measures the length of their gun barrel. Is it necessary to have something that could tow a fleet of yachts and climb Everest if needed? No! The biggest mistake in purchasing a new truck happens the moment you open your mouth. You may not consider yourself a goal-oriented person, but in this case, it’s all that matters.

Nissan Pro4X
Looking for a new truck? The Nissan Titan Pro4X is rugged and performance driven for the outdoorsman or woman.

I suspect that guy walked into the dealership without a clear-cut goal and intentionally defined needs vs. wants. While he may tow a boat eight or nine times during the year, that doesn’t necessarily mean he needs the biggest truck on the lot.

Go in ready to deal for the truck you need. If you tow a couple times a year and mostly haul lighter loads, drive a truck that fits the bill. As a sportsman, I look for unique features that benefit my lifestyle. Do your research and know your goal before stepping on the lot.
