Does your hunting rifle kick the snot out of you? Many hunters use rifles chambered for cartridges which are uncomfortable to shoot -- too much recoil. The simple truth is that you don't need a magnum to kill a deer, antelope, or elk. If your 7mm or .300 Magnum is just not fun to shoot at the range, consider getting a 6.5, 7mm, or 30-caliber medium cartridge, like the 6.5 Creedmoor, 7mm-08, or .308.

The gun banners are losing their minds. This included the media, which is the cheering section for the gun-ban industry. A recent NRA video decried the violence we see on the left, and called for fighting it with "the fist of truth." You would have thought the NRA was calling for shooting, lynching, dragging, and burning those who spread the lies of gun control. It was simply a call for truth. Oh yeah. The media no longer recognizes what that word means.

A little help from my friends. I mentioned on the radio that I love the 1911 platform, but I like to carry a double-stack 9mm pistol to have the round count. What to do? One listener pointed me to the Wilson Combat EDC X9. A double-stack 9mm 1911. And, it's a Wilson Combat creation. Mighty hard to beat. Hey, Bill ...

This week Brownells featured a complete AR-15 rifle for under $350. Insane! Sure, it's a bargain brand, but it shows where we are at this moment. This. Will. Not. Last. In weeks, or certainly in months, the special deals (check your GunDealio app on your smart phone for the latest deals) will go away, and those who didn't "pull the trigger" on them will be kicking themselves.

It's summer. Have fun. Bring back the pure fun of shooting. Make a plan. If you haven't shot clay targets in ... forever ... then pack up the shotguns and go do it. Seeing a clay disappear in a puff of smoke thrills any shooter. Or, grab a brick of 22 rimfire ammo and a bunch of fun targets and take the family shooting, and then to dinner.

Press Check. I do it every time I put on a pistol. Make sure you are safe and you are always pointing the muzzle in a safe direction. And keep your finger off the cotton-picking trigger!
