Florida Fishermen Tragically Murdered - Evil Exists

July 23, 2020
Kevin "KJ" Jarnagin

If you don’t believe that truly evil people exist in this world, I feel sorry for you. There are people walking amongst us that mean to do harm to innocent, unsuspecting folks. Recently, three buddies were headed on a late-night fishing trip when tragedy struck. This story comes from the small, 3,200-person city of Frostproof, Fla., where Damion Tillman, 23, Keven Springfield, 30, and Brandon Rollins, 27, were "massacred" last week.

Florida fishermen were tragically murdered last week. We can build our every day carry mindset by paying attention to these stories. Become better prepared with your EDC lifestyle by staying alert and vigilant.

Investigators believe Tillman arrived at the lake first to meet his friends. When Rollins and Springfield arrived, they saw their friend being beaten. The attackers then turned on them and began shooting. Rollins was still alive when the attackers left and called his father for help.

Rollins’ actions began a chain reaction that ultimately led to the arrest of evil. Three low lives were apprehended in connection with the slayings.

"We have locked up the three people responsible for the murders of these guys," Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.

Rollins’ father rushed to the fishing spot about 10 minutes away but forgot his cellphone in the hurry to help his son. He drove to a nearby convenience store, and the clerk helped him call the cops but, by the time they arrived, Rollins had died. The other two men died shortly afterward.

After the brutal killings, the three suspects drove to McDonald's, where they ordered 10 double cheeseburgers, and two McChicken sandwiches, authorities said. The next morning, a suspect took his truck to a car wash in Lake Wales to wash the clay from it.

Judd called the eldest suspect "pure evil in the flesh" and said his criminal history dates back to when he was 12 years old. He has 15 convictions and has two stints in state prison on his record.

I suppose the outcry should be as to why in the world was this individual out walking amongst us in the first place. We live in a crazy world.

Those folks among the prepared examine this story as a way to prepare better. We hate that this happens, but we must look at what we can take from this horrible event in a way to better prepare ourselves. Here are a couple of my thoughts:

  1. Always let someone know where you will be.
  2. If something looks “off” on approach - move along.
  3. Go prepared. I’ve heard it countless times, but it’s worth repeating. If we could predict the future, we’d bring an entire arsenal or stay clear of the area all together. Also, don’t forget that your EDC kit also includes your communication device.

It’s tough to Monday-morning quarterback these events because we don’t know the full story yet – and may never. We are fed what the authorities want us to know, (or are able to tell us). It doesn’t stop the mental process of wondering, “what if that was me?” “How would I react?” “Would I be prepared when evil came knocking on my door?”

Stay vigilant and prepare yourself for the worst day - because with evil lurking out there like this…it may only be a matter of “when” and not “if”. ~ KJ
