Combatting Incremental Change

December 27, 2018

We’ve made another trip around the sun. It’s time to continue forward and look toward bigger and better things. For us 2A supporters, 2018 ended on a bit of a sour note with the introduction of the Bump Stock ban. Don’t worry, we’ve got folks working on a solution to stop the threat to our rights. If you didn’t think that the threat to gather up our guns was real, how’s the gut feeling now? As a result, our goal in 2019 must be deliberate and purposeful.

Look, it doesn’t matter if you like bump stocks or not. I, for one, never had a use for them, but this fight isn’t about bump stocks. It’s about much more.

Small changes here and there add up over time. The left counts on small changes to steal away the big picture. Make no mistake, they want your guns. It’s this incremental change that should freak out gun owners. It sounds like the frog in the pot of water. Increase the temperature just a little over time, and by the time the frog realizes the water is too hot, it’s too late.

If you follow Tom Gresham’s Gun Talk Radio, you should know we’ve got to be more active. We’ve been attending committee hearings in support, and Tom’s been at this for close to 50 years. He’s been seeing the same fight over and over. We’ve won a large chunk of battles, but now is the time to come together in force.

This is one of those moments when we must gather the masses. With Bloomberg showering millions to end firearm ownership as we know it, our crew must change with financial support.

Giving a little each month adds up to big change. If we do one thing new in 2019 to support continuing firearms ownership, free of tyranny, it begins with donations. One of the organizations that promotes our heritage is the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF.) They carry on many educational and legal action programs to better inform the public about the gun control debate. The SAF fights on the front lines, ensuring we maintain our 2A rights.

There’s an estimated 7.7 million gun owners, and growing, in the U.S. Support from every gun owner would continue to guard against the threat in a massive way. If money is tight, go to the committee hearings or take to the message boards to rally support. However, for those of us that could skip a Starbucks coffee once a month, we need to support organizations like SAF that fight every day. ~ KJ
