A Special Time for Gunnies

January 4, 2018
Tom Gresham

Over the last month, I've come to realize that we're entering a special time for gun owners. When we look back on 2018 in five years, we may well shake our heads at just how many new, cool, guns were introduced this year. If you haven't seen the announcements, you'll want to pay attention.

In the last 45 days, we have seen new rifles and pistols from Springfield Armory, Ruger, Smith & Wesson and others. A new, exciting pistol will be introduced early next week. Ruger's Precision Rifle in 22 rimfire, the 9mm carbine that takes Glock magazines, and the Security-9 pistol are just the start of what we'll see introduced from that company. Springfield offered up the Saint Edge, the Saint pistol, two 10mm 1911s, an M1A in 6.5 Creedmor and just this past week we see the tiny "1911" in .380 -- named the 911. Smith has conjured up various versions of the M&P 2.0 series -- all of them real shooters.

What's going on? Sales are down. The win by Donald Trump pretty much stopped a lot of gun buying, and the manufacturers have felt it -- hard! Though 2015 they didn't have to bring out anything new because every gun they could run through the plants (which were running 24/7) would sell. Many designs, which had been shelved, were moved to the

front burner in 2017 because gun makers know that new products drive sales. As last year limped to a close, and as 2018 begins, we're seeing a flood of new guns the likes of which I've never seen. A bunch more are moving through the pipeline, with some scheduled for announcement in a few days.

Ammo prices are way down. You should be buying ammo each month. Gun prices are down. New guns are coming out weekly. Politics and market forces have driven us to this point -- a time which could be known in later years as the Golden Age.

My prediction for 2018? Sales will slowly increase. Shooters and hunters will look up and see all these new guns and will want them. By mid-year, the roaring economy will have loosened purse strings, and the flood of innovative firearms will spur ever increasing sales.

In short, 2018 is shaping up to be something special. Already I want the Springfield 10mm, the Ruger 9mm carbine, and the one we will be announcing early next week. Be sure to like us on Facebook, where you'll see the first announcement. There are a number of others we are sworn not to talk about, but when we can, you'll be the first to know.

It's a great time to be a Second Amendment enthusiast! ~ Tom
